The aim of this handbook is to provide detailed information about our centres, products and services so that our agents can pass on a reliable image of our institution to our clients. We give brief details below regarding our centre. III is a leading centre in the development of language courses in the area of Marbella-Nueva Andalucia and Estepona. It was set up in 1982 and since then many companies and individuals have come to us to take languages courses. Apart from our Spanish programmes we offer courses in English, French, German, Italian, Russian and a translation service. All of our schools have a quality management certificate and are authorised to prepare Cambridge University examinations. Our centre in Nueva Andalucia is also accredited by the Cervantes Institute and belongs to FEDELE [Federación de Escuelas de Español como Lengua Extranjera –Federation of Schools teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language]. As III has come to the point where it wants to expand and is looking for new niches in the market, it is interested in contacting agents who wish to promote a quality, personalised and professional product. The terms we offer for agents will be unbeatable as regards the factors created for working together. We are prepared to improve on, or at least equal, the best offer they may have received, bearing in mind that this is a high quality and very cosmopolitan area with the best services in Spain. We have an unbeatable team of teachers and managers who are continually being retrained in order that we can give the most professional and up-to-date service. Since it began, III’s policy has been to have a good relationship with its suppliers based on trust, professionalism and mutual benefit. We look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely Julio Morales Jiménez Director III This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. A.- Coming on your own If you come on your own, reception time at the centre is from 9am to 9pm, Monday to Friday. When you arrive you will be accompanied to the accommodation you have reserved with a family or in an apartment or hotel. If a student arrives during the weekend, or at a different time, he/she must give advance notice so reception can be organised. B.- Arrival by transfer service If you have requested the transfer service for collection at Malaga airport, coach or train station, you must give us advance notice of the arrival date and time of the flight, train or coach. EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES We offer extra-curricular activities aimed at recreational, sports and cultural awareness of our own course activities. For all those we organise, there will be a degree of translation at least in two languages: Spanish and English. The restrictions or implicit medical conditioning in the activity or event to be carried out will be specified in the notice of the same. We try to ensure that these activities are complementary to classes, putting the student in situations at his or her level where the use of the language is developed in a totally natural way and integrated into the context. The programming is as follows: 8.1. Situational visits (class taken outside the classroom) • A1-A2: restaurant, market, department store, tourist office. • B1-B2: hotel, chemist, estate agency, travel agency. • C1: bank, post office, directions, hiring a car. • C2: town hall, telephone company, lawyer (application for residency, work permit, etc.) 8.2. Excursions The aims of the excursions organised by our centre are: • To create situations for communication. • To encourage inter-cultural exchange. • To present Spanish culture, architecture, gastronomy, etc. When choosing the excursions we look for diversity and to present an overall view of what is Andalucia and, if more than one day, other parts of Spain. They take place every three months, except during summer courses when they are weekly. Transport, guide, entry to historic monuments and places of interest, and lunch is included. The following are on the programme: • Jerez de la Frontera • Cordoba • Malaga • Seville • Granada • Antequera • Baena • Osuna 8.3. Cinema The aim of our cinema programme is to present Spain as it is today and how it was in the past and also other countries with Spanish culture. It also serves as a cultural and recreational meeting point as afterwards we go on a tapas route and enjoy the evening. Films are shown every other Friday from 7.30 to 9.30pm and are supplemented by a talk. This activity is free of charge. 8.4. Dinners: every fortnight Following our cinema programme we carry on with a dinner in a restaurant where students, friends and teachers can enjoy the variety of Spanish food, take advantage of putting their knowledge of the language into practice and make new friends. 8.5. Sports and cultural events A detailed list of events is put on our notice board and in the agenda section of our website. 9.- ACCOMMODATION III offers various types of accommodation so that the ideal one can be chosen depending upon personal preferences. 9.1. Family Lodging with a family offers the possibility of getting the maximum from a course. The student can put into practice the knowledge acquired and get to know firsthand about the daily life and customs of the Spanish people. III selects its families very carefully, bearing in mind the personal characteristics of each student. Our principal aim is that students feel comfortable and can carry out their programme of studies and their experience with a family in a satisfactory way. There is a choice between a single or shared room. Staying with a family includes full board (breakfast and two meals), with an option for washing and ironing of clothes. Students will of course have to adapt themselves to the rules of the house and be aware of the customs of the Spanish and of Spain. - To respect schedules. - Not to make any disturbing noise, - Not to bring guests to the house without the agreement of the family. - To give notice when you are not going to sleep there. - Not to use the family’s telephone, although you can receive calls. - All adult students will receive a key to the house and will be at liberty to go in and out at any time as long as this does not conflict with the normal family routine. - If a student is not happy with the family or apartment, he or she will be able to notify the Secretary’s office and request a change during the first week of the course. As each family is different, it is better to come to an agreement about all this so the experience of living together is a positive thing for all concerned. The nearest urban centres are: Puerto Banus – 1 kilometre San Pedro Alcantara – 3 kilometres Marbella – 6 kilometres 9.2. Apartment The apartments selected by III have 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms. They are all completely furnished and equipped: TV, complete kitchen equipment, washing machine, towels, blankets and sheets are included. Basic rules for the apartment or shared apartment - Cleaning and hygiene of the same. - Being careful with the furniture, electrical appliances, etc. In the event of damage the student could be charged with their repair or replacement. - Animals are not permitted. - No-one else is allowed to stay the night if there is no room and authorisation is not given. - Respect for regulations of the community of neighbours, especially those regarding noise (prohibited between 11pm and 9am). - Respect for colleagues. - No parties are allowed in the apartments. - At the end of your stay the keys must be returned. In the event of their loss or theft, they and the changing of the lock must be paid for. - III reserves the right to inspect the apartments without prior notice in case they are not being used properly or the regulations are not being fulfilled. - Calls cannot be made from the apartment or from the family’s telephone without prior authorisation of the owner, although students can receive calls. Serious non-fulfilment of the regulations could give rise to the students being expelled with no right of refund. We offer three accommodation possibilities in our apartments: • Single room in an apartment If you prefer privacy this is the ideal option. The maximum number of students per apartment is four. • Shared room in an apartment You will be sharing a room with another student. The maximum number of students per apartment is four. • An apartment just for you If you wish maximum privacy then this is the ideal option. 9.3. Hotel The hotels chosen by III offer an alternative for those who would like first class service, either in a single or double room. III will simply act as an intermediary in this type of accommodation, so students will be under the rules of the hotel itself. However, according to previous agreement with the hotel management, III reserves the right to cancel the accommodation and/or expel students from the programme if their behaviour is manifestly inappropriate within the hotel, as this could damage and devalue the present and future image and logistics of III. We have chosen three hotels on the basis of their good quality/price relationship, their location, installations and services. We will be happy to advise you and to organise your reservation. Hotel H10 Andalucia Plaza (Nueva Andalucia) Hotel PYR (Puerto Banus) There is a laundry and ironing service (not included in the price) and free Internet access. Meals are not included. These hotels are situated a 10-minute walk from the Nueva Andalucia school. 10.- TRANSFER A transfer service is provided by III for their clients from the airport, train station and main coach station in Malaga. There is also a public bus and taxi service from the airport to the town of Marbella which takes approximately 45 minutes. 11.- PROCEDURE FOR RESERVATION AND PAYMENT 11.1. Puerto Banus, one of the main focuses of tourist attraction of the town, offers an exclusive leisure area within the excellent installations of its marina. But Marbella is also a paradise for lovers of golf, with a dozen splendid courses that allow players to practice this sport in magnificent landscapes with views of the sea and the mountains. The old part of town has lovely corners that are typically Andalusian, with white-washed houses and orange trees lining the streets and squares. It is an ideal place to sample any of the delicious dishes of the local gastronomy. The jewel in the crown is, without doubt, Marbella’s climate with an average temperature of 19ºC, warm winters and summers that are cooled by the sea breezes, as well as 300 days of sun in the year. From Marbella day trips can be made to numerous places of interest: Cordoba, Seville, Granada, Ronda; and there are unbeatable areas both by the sea and in the mountains. 14.- GOOD REASONS FOR CHOOSING SPAIN The climate, healthy Mediterranean diet, scenery and wonderful places of interest, a very attractive lifestyle, the joy and humanity of the people, culture, history, our uniqueness. 15.- ASSOCIATIONS / ACCREDITATIONS - Accredited centre of the Cervantes Institute - Accredited centre within FEDELE - Certificate in Quality for Management (SGS) - Authorised centre to prepare for Cambridge University examinations Tesol - Organiser institution for Continuous Teaching (Tripartite Foundation) - ACEPMA – Asociación de Centros de Estudios Privados de Málaga [Association of Centres of Private Study in Malaga] - FACEP – Federación Andaluza de Centros de Estudios Privados [Andalusian Federation of Private Study Centres] 16.- TELEPHONES OF INTEREST 24-hour III Emergency Service 679 173 910 Emergency Health Service 061 Costa del Sol Hospital 952 828 250 Emergencies – National Police 091 Civil Guard 062 Local Police Stations - Marbella 952 899 900 - Estepona 952 800 243 Fire Stations - Marbella 952 774 349 - Estepona 952 804 483 Malaga airport 952 048 804 Renfe (train services) 902 240 202 Taxis 952 774 488 – 952 823 535 Coaches 952 764 400 17.- WEBSITES OF INTEREST www.marbella.es www.estepona.es www.pgb.es www.vistacostadelsol.com www.andalucia.org www.diariosur.com 18.- PRICE LIST • Students with certain knowledge of Spanish will be able to access directly the appropriate course for their level, having previously carried out a placement test, without having to wait for the starting date. • The price for the summer course only includes the academic hours.
